Omega Engineering, Inc. Has Released a New Video Borescope System
The HHB1500 series is a portable, hand-held, complete borescope system with monitor, camera and video. This oil and scratch resistant product also comes with a hard protective case. The display can show still photos and dynamic video in real time on the extra-wide TFT monitor. The illumination intensity adjusts to the environment. Applications for this CE compliant product include automotive, military, aircraft, heat exchangers and air conditioning.
Selco’s New OMH Thermostat Series Provides UL Approved High Limit Safety Device for Applications Requiring Manual Reset Temperature Control
Selco Products has released the new High Temperature Manual Reset ½” Thermostat OMH Series. Incorporating a Polyphenylene Resin Body, the new series is designed to meet a temperature shut-off up to 400ºF for applications requiring a UL approved high limit safety device. Typical applications include temperature control for beverage equipment, commercial and residential appliances, food equipment, HVAC equipment and heaters.
The new manual reset thermostat incorporates a highly reliable switch that utilizes a temperature sensitive, snap-action bimetal disc, electrically isolated from the switch. Contacts open on rise when surface or ambient temperature increases to the set point of the calibrated bimetal disc. The calibrated fixed disc is mounted adjacent to the monitored surface, providing a rapid response to temperature changes.
The OMH thermostat series features an operating temperature of 50 ºC to 250ºC (120ºF to 401ºF) and a tolerance of ± 8ºC (± 14.4ºF). Reliability is assured with a switch operating life cycle of 6,000. Silver contacts are rated at 15 amps at 125VAC (16 amps at 250VAC).
Selco’s OMH thermostats can be specified with a wide variety of setpoints, mounting brackets options, and terminal types. In addition to UL approval, other ratings and approvals include C-UL, VDE, and ROHS compliance. Customers can customize their order through Selco’s value added services department, which provides soldered wire leads, connectors, epoxy overmolding, and a variety of other special add-ons to provide a fully assembled component.
Thermal Imager Pinpoints Hottest and Coldest Temperatures on Live Screen
Ideal Industries, Inc., a company focused on test and measurement technology, has released its new HeatSeeker Thermal Imager, an affordable thermography solution for the predictive maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems. The handheld HeatSeeker was designed to meet the stringent standards for performance set by professional electricians, engineers and building inspectors. The HeatSeeker incorporates an Auto Hot/Cold Tracker, a new technology that automatically pinpoints the hottest and coldest temperatures within a single screen by highlighting both with dual cursors. Just a quick scan of the Auto Hot/Cold Tracker immediately identifies current or potential problems, such as overloaded circuits, inefficient heat transfer, moisture leakage, or fluid distribution for a stuck valve.
For superior accuracy in the field, HeatSeeker captures a "real" digital photo of the subject that is then blended with a full infrared picture to provide added detail to the image under review. Depending on the complexity of the image, the technician can choose to blend the digital photo with 25 percent, 50 percent or 75 percent infrared to better identify suspected components. The digital image and the thermal can also be shown simultaneously in the display. The combination of the Auto Hot/Cold Tracker and digital/thermal blending qualifies the HeatSeeker for a wide variety of applications.
Once an image is captured, technicians simply move toggles to navigate the tracking cursors across the LCD screen to measure surface temperature variations ranging from 14°F to 660°F. A full 1,849 temperature measurements can be viewed live on the LCD with an accuracy of ± 2 percent or ± 4°F. Images can be saved to evaluate all temperature points, as well as marked with text and live voice recordings. The provided ThermalVision software makes it easy to view, edit or analyze images on a PC, as well as to generate detailed inspection reports.
Other market-proven features of the HeatSeeker are a Class II laser, a built-in LED illuminator for use in poorly lit areas, a removable handle, and adjustable emissivity to improve accuracy.
Thermal Epoxy is an Excellent Potting Material
Master Bond EP37-3FLFAN is a thermally conductive and electrical insulative potting compound. It is well suited for applications where a dielectric heat transfer adhesive is required. This two part epoxy has physical strength properties and a high degree of flexibility that holds up well to radical temperatures: up to 250°F and in cryogenic environments down to 4K. The adhesive exhibits an impressive thermal conductivity of 25 BTU and a volume resistivity of 1 x 1,014 ohm-cm, a high insulative capacity for an electrical potting epoxy. This thermal potting compound is formulated to cure at room temperatures and forms tough bonds that are resistant to shock, impact, thermal cycling and chemicals.
EP37-3FLFAN is a well suited potting system and encapsulation material because of its low viscosity and flow characteristics. The uniqueness of EP37-3FLFAN lies in the fact that this thermally conductive adhesive retains a high level of flexibility while having the desirable physical characteristics inherent in epoxies. |

CFdesign Creators Help Companies Convert Short-Term Challenges into Long-Term Benefits
Blue Ridge Numerics, Inc. has released a new CFdesign implementation program in North America tailored for companies that need to drive engineering innovation in this tough economic climate, while facing strict CAPEX (capital expenditure) controls. The program ensures companies can tap into the value of upfront CFD and digital prototyping to solve their flow and thermal design challenges at the moment they need it most. The implementation program includes two phases: solution development, which solves immediate design needs through customized project-based services, and technology transfer, which enables customers to leverage the knowledge gained in the solution development phase to permanently integrate CFdesign into their product development workflow.
The Blue Ridge Numerics customized implementation approach reduces risk for CFdesign customers and increases overall ROI, which is essential in today’s economic climate.
New videos are now available on the Company’s Web site, featuring Blue Ridge Numerics’ CEO, VP of Engineering, Product Manager, and Tech Support Manager, provide further information on CFdesign and the implementation services offered by Blue Ridge Numerics.
